Rosa Centifolia di Barbaresco

This year the spring was lovely. As usual I found myself alone to manage with the impelling duties of the production. Moreover, the pandemic moment didn't help. At the very last moment, after tons of doubts I decided to but a still made in Austria, called "Leonardo". I was able to reach the place to bring to with me, but no possibilities to attend the course to learn the secrets of distillation.

But sometine Destiny (I would love to call it in a different way) is better than us and in the very last moment I found Fabrizio, a young guy with passion in stills, in transforming them and in gin (he is a top distiller for that).

We saw that the still I bought in Austria was of very good quality but totally lacking of professional control: steam temperatures, water temperatures, control of temperature of water, cooling of the liquids. He really speeded up and trasformed my "normal" still into a professional one, increasing its perfomances, with details that I cannot open now to public. It is in fact something of total unique and also secret, hence I will not post any picture of it.

Fabrizio also spent his time by teaching me how to distill (sorry for my Austrian friends, but a super and speeded up course!) and we did our first acqua di rose di Barbaresco, in between some beers and some good Barbaresco wine. We spend a very lovely time together, chatting about a lot of topics while waiting the water drops out.

To distill I had to wake up at 5 AM to proceed with harvesting. The Rosa Centifolia di Barbaresco was of such a beauty, that it was worthy just to admire it. And what a scent!!

The product we obtained is really stunning! I also started to think about labelling the production, like this:

Orris root for baby teething

Our first idea was to supply German and Austrian sellers of this product on their local markets. The beginning was good, but the work we had to make for each dried orris root was not worthy the price.

So we decided to suspend our production and to move towards the production of essential oil from different Roses Centifolia.

Meanwhile, we decided to come back to our "first love" i.e. iris and we decided to put on sell on ebay our roots, directly from the producer in the hope that people will support the direct producers, save money, and obtain a high quality product 100% and 100% handmade.

Here some of the orris root we put on sale for Euro 6,90 on ebay.

Rosa Centifolia "Chapeau de Napoléon"

This year has been really tough. We all underwent a difficult period. But the roses didn't know about that and this year gifted us a fantastic huge blossoming.

The scent of around 100 roses - 2 meters tall - was really beautiful

Iris blossoming May 2019 - Free to visit!

Dear all!
finally spring arrived (well ... actually is a very cold May with around 11 degrees!) and the iris stated to blossom; this year their number increased and the spectacle is quite amazing.
A friend of mine took some super pictures of the vision of the iris (around 33.000) and I let you judge the results:

If you want to visit please just write an email to irisbarbaresco@gmail.com

Rosa Centifoglia "Chapeau de Napoléon" - Roseyards

I finally ended my "roseyard", an invented word to describe how to cultivate roses like wineyards. Being in a land for wines, I've gotten the idea to use the system to hold the wineyards also for the roses, in order to make them grow also in hight, having the possibility to use the maximum extend of them.
This system is quite sperimental and therefore no success guaranteed. The visual effect will be by the way very beautiful.

As it's possible to see in the picture here above, the roses are all protected by a foil to avoid problem of cold or of heat in the summer. In the next months I will set an iron wire where to hang the roses and some pictures will be following.

Rosa Centifoglia "Chapeau de Napoléon"

Here we start with the cultivation of the Roses Centifoglie in the cultivar "Chapeau de Napoléon"; this kind of rose is well know for producing a superb scent and it is used usually for syrups and jams.
We will cultivate them in the way of wineyards, (you can see the sticks in the ground).
The idea is to make them grow untill 180 cm high in order to be able to harvest them not bending.
Just the future will be able to say if it is possible and the effect of the land of Barbaresco on the roses Damascena.

Herbarium Magicum - Chistmas 2018

Time ago, I decided to focus my love for flowers (also) to the painting and writing of some tradizional spells concerning some flowers.
The idea was to write down a real herbarium with dozen of paintings. Sadly time is short and my will changes; my mum asked me to gift these paintings for Christmas. So I prepared them and I will gift them all. Before that, I photographed all and here I post them to remember my love for flowers and for sharing the images.
I hope you will like (drawings and texts all done by me)
